Internet terminology grows as the technology continues to evolve. Below is a list of common internet terms to help you navigate your internet service and choices.

Speed

Internet speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps). Bits are tiny units of digital data. A higher internet speed means digital data is transmitted faster between the internet and your computer.

Download Speed

The rate that digital data is transferred from the internet to your computer.

Upload Speed

The rate that digital data is transferred from your computer to the internet.

Data

Data in digital format is used anytime you connect to the internet to browse websites, check email, play a video game, download music, or stream movies and shows.

Modem

An electronic device that connects Internet service provided via wired cable to your home network.

Router

An electronic device that lets all your wired and wireless (via Wi-Fi) devices use an Internet connection at the same time. Sometimes modem and router functionality are combined in one device, but this isn’t always the case.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I read my Sparklight statement?
Your billing statement is not only used to provide you with that amount that is due for that month but also serves as a way for us to communicate important updates with your account.

How to Read your Monthly Statement
What am I billed for each month?
Internet, Phone and Cable TV services are provided on a month-to-month basis. The prorated monthly service charge, which includes any equipment lease fees and any installation charges, is normally payable either before or when service is installed. After that, we will bill you each month in advance for service. Your bill will include a list of your services, package or special offer discounts, payments, credits and any applicable fees and taxes.
When is my bill due?
Payment in full is due to Sparklight by the ''Due By'' date indicated on your statement. If full payment is not received by this date, your bill will become past due and may be subject to additional fees such as late payment charges, reactivation fees, returned check fees, or subject to disconnection of service.
