CABLE ONE NAMES SILVERMAN SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
January 13, 2015 – Phoenix,AZ — Cable ONE announced today the promotion of Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary Alan Silverman to Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary.
Silverman started with The Washington Post Company in 1984 as Assistant General Counsel of Newsweek Magazine. While still at Newsweek, he worked on The Washington Post Company’s acquisition of Post-Newsweek Cable (Cable ONE) from Capital Cities in 1986. Following the acquisition, Silverman became Vice President, General Counsel, Director of Administration, and Secretary of Cable ONE.
Prior to The Washington Post Company, Silverman worked for the Wall Street law firm of Hughes, Hubbard & Reed doing mergers, acquisitions, international transactions, and other corporate and transactional work. In addition to earlier stints with other law firms in New York City and Washington, D.C., he also worked in government - including as a fellow at the White House in the Office of the Special Trade Representative, on Capitol Hill, and in Pennsylvania state government.
Silverman holds a B.A. from Hamilton College (Clinton, NY), a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and an MBA from The Wharton School.
In addition to his work for Cable ONE, Silverman has made numerous contributions to the community, including service on the board of directors for non-profit, charitable, and arts organizations; and on boards and commissions in which he was appointed by city, county, and state governments.
