Sparklight® Hosts Electronic Collection Event
in Honor of America Recycles Day
Nov. 12, 2021 – Aransas Pass, TX. – In honor of America Recycles Day, Sparklight is hosting an electronics collection event from November 15 through 19 to help Aransas Pass residents properly dispose of their electronic equipment.
“Recycling is just a small part of what we can all do to help our environment. Many people may not know that electronics need to be recycled through qualified recyclers and cannot be recycled with paper, plastic, and glass,” said David Hilarides, Sparklight General Manager. “With this weeklong event, we’re hoping to take the guesswork out of how to recycle these items and provide an easy way for our community to come together to help the environment, as well as get rid of some old tech that might be lying around the house.”
The Sparklight office, located at 1045 S. Commercial St., will be collecting electronics from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from November 15 through November 19. Residents can drop off their items at the tent in front of the office.
Sparklight will be accepting an array of electronics, including TVs, computers, kitchen appliances and more. However, due to recycling restrictions, the internet service provider will not be able to take the following items:
- Alkaline or household batteries
- Light bulbs
- PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) ballasts or other PCB containing material
- Freon equipment
- Equipment containing Mercury
- Smoke or carbon monoxide detectors
- Thermostats
- Neon signs
- Radioactive equipment or materials
- Healthcare or medical equipment
- Items containing asbestos
This is the third year that Sparklight has hosted an electronics collection event in honor of America Recycles Day. Through being a resource to residents, Sparklight seeks to make a positive impact in the communities it serves.
