HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Jan. 19, 2026) – Individuals and families in the Lowcountry facing food insecurity will benefit from a $6,000 grant awarded to Second Helpings by Sparklight® through its Charitable Giving Fund. The grant will go toward transportation costs for the nonprofit’s food rescue program, which saves and delivers more than 2.9 million pounds of nutritious food every year.

During its recent grant cycle, Sparklight awarded more than $125,000 in grants to 25 nonprofit organizations across the cities and towns it serves. From hunger relief to child and family support to education and vital skills training, the funding is helping enhance communities and uplift lives.

“Second Helpings is doing incredible work helping families put meals on the table while reducing food waste across the region,” said Jane Shanley, Sparklight Senior Regional Director, Southeast. “Through our Charitable Giving Fund, we’re proud to support them in creating meaningful, lasting impact during these challenging times.”

Second Helpings Executive Director Amy Colin expressed appreciation for the grant.

“Every mile our trucks travel means more good food rescued and delivered the same day to neighbors who otherwise wouldn’t eat,” said Colin. “Through this grant, Sparklight is directly supporting hunger relief, reducing food waste and strengthening community services. We are grateful for Sparklight’s partnership and genuine concern for those in need.”

The company’s Charitable Giving Fund focuses on initiatives that create lasting, local impact, including education and digital literacy, hunger relief and community development. Since the Fund’s inception in 2020, Sparklight has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants to more than 275 nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of those they serve.

Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant during open application periods each spring and fall. Applications for the spring 2026 cycle will be accepted April 1–30, 2026.
