Sparklight Awards $5,000 Charitable Giving Fund Grant to R4Creating
RIO RANCHO, N.M. (Aug. 3, 2026) — Residents of all ages will have expanded opportunities to explore technology, build digital skills and connect thanks to a $5,000 grant from leading internet and mobile provider Sparklight®. Awarded through the Sparklight Charitable Giving Fund, the grant will support R4Creating’s Community Hub, which provides science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, workforce development support and an intergenerational gathering space for the community.
During its recent grant cycle, Sparklight awarded more than $125,000 in grants to 28 nonprofit organizations across the cities and towns it serves. By investing in programs that support children and families, address food insecurity, expand educational opportunities and build critical life skills, the funding is helping improve lives and strengthen local communities.
“Technology has the power to bring people together and open doors to new opportunities,” said Jay Macleod, Sparklight Senior Regional Director, Southwest. “R4Creating is building a place where residents of all ages can develop new skills, explore new possibilities and build meaningful connections.”
Sparklight previously awarded the organization a $5,000 grant to support its mission of expanding access to STEM education and innovation throughout the Rio Rancho community.
“We’re grateful for Sparklight’s continued partnership and investment in our mission,” said Dr. Shelly Gruenig, R4Creating Founder and Executive Director. “This grant helps sustain our Community Hub as a place where children, families, educators and older adults can learn together, discover new possibilities and build the skills and relationships that help our community thrive.”
Sparklight’s Charitable Giving Fund focuses on initiatives that create lasting, local impact, including education and digital literacy, hunger relief and community development. Since the Fund’s inception in 2020, Sparklight has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to more than 300 nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of those they serve.
Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant during open application periods each spring and fall. Applications for the fall 2026 cycle will be accepted Oct. 1‒31, 2026.
