Sparklight Awards $2,500 to The Ask Academy for STEM Education
May 17, 2023 – Rio Rancho, N.M. – Sparklight® today announced The Ask Academy is a winner of its fifth annual “Dream Bigger” social media campaign, which awards $2,500 each to six schools and organizations providing K-12 students with STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education.
The Ask Academy will use the award to acquire the resources and equipment needed to explore new areas of robotics, physics, and engineering, as well as attend a STEM-related field trip
“This funding will provide our students with the opportunity to access resources that would otherwise be unavailable to them, and will help them achieve their goals and make a positive impact in their community,” said the Ask Academy’s Amber Lial.
“Sparklight is committed to giving back to the communities we serve, and we are proud to play a part in helping to develop the technical skills of our future leaders,” said Sparklight Regional General Manager Richard Estrada. “We look forward to seeing what The Ask Academy’s students are able to accomplish with this additional funding.”
This year, more than 100 schools and organizations from communities in the 21 states Sparklight serves submitted entries outlining how the award would be used to fund their STEM projects, and how the projects benefit students. The winners were determined by public voting and will be highlighted on Sparklight’s social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.
Since 2019, Sparklight and the associated Cable One family of brands have awarded nearly $120,000 to STEM projects through its “Dream Bigger” initiative.
