Sparklight® Awards $2,500 Grant to Winslow Christian School to Support STEM Education

WINSLOW, Ariz. (April 23, 2025) –– As part of its 7th annual “Dream Bigger” social media campaign, Sparklight® is proud to announce that it has awarded a $2,500 grant to Winslow Christian School.

Winslow Christian School will establish a STEM program utilizing computer programming for junior high and high school students through an afterschool initiative supported by the grant from Sparklight. The program aims to engage students in hands-on learning with computers in a relatable way, demonstrating the connection between mathematics and coding through game development. The initiative is expected to enhance students' math skills. Grant funding will be used to purchase updated computers, software and licensing to launch the program.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Dream Bigger contest for Winslow Christian School,” said Monica Skaggs, volunteer and events coordinator. “We’re excited to launch our new computer programming club for students and staff. This initiative will be a significant benefit, helping our students understand the direct connection between mathematics and computer programming.”

“We are thrilled to support Winslow Christian School in their efforts to bring STEM education to life in such a meaningful way,” said Jay Macleod, Sparklight Senior Director, Southwest Region. “At Sparklight, we believe that by empowering students to use technology for social good, we can help to build a brighter future for students and the communities we serve."

Since its inception in 2019, Sparklight’s “Dream Bigger” initiative has awarded nearly $200,000 to support STEM education and expand access to innovative learning opportunities for K-12 students. This year, 12 schools and organizations across Sparklight’s 24-state footprint were selected to receive funding for their impactful projects.
