Sparklight® Awards $2,500 Grant to Union School to Support STEM Education

NAMPA, Idaho. (April 24, 2025) –– As part of its 7th annual “Dream Bigger” social media campaign, Sparklight® is proud to announce that it has awarded a $2,500 grant to Union School.

Union School will develop a comprehensive STEAM program benefiting at-risk elementary school students. The program defines STEAM as science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Trained as STEAM Ambassadors, Union School middle and high school students will provide instruction through school events, in-school visits and out-of-school activities. The initiative also includes creating a STEAM lab on campus. This lab will be a learning space for visiting elementary students and a resource for Union's middle and high school students. Instruction will align with grade-level math and science standards, offering STEAM experiences along with intervention and extension opportunities.

"We are very excited about winning the Dream Bigger contest with Sparklight,” said Jennifer Keene, a teacher at Union School. “Our middle and high school STEAM ambassadors at Union School will be able to use the supplies and tools to create and teach STEAM activities to our local elementary school students from at-risk schools. The STEAM instruction that this grant will make possible will help to inspire students in the Nampa School District to think more creatively and to engage in STEAM problem solving and collaboration actively.”

“We are thrilled to support Union School in their efforts to bring STEM education to life in such a meaningful way,” said Amanda Moore, Sparklight Senior Director, Northwest Region. “At Sparklight, we believe that by empowering students to use technology for social good, we can help to build a brighter future for students and the communities we serve."

Since its inception in 2019, Sparklight’s “Dream Bigger” initiative has awarded nearly $200,000 to support STEM education and expand access to innovative learning opportunities for K-12 students. This year, 12 schools and organizations across Sparklight’s 24-state footprint were selected to receive funding for their impactful projects.
