Sparklight Awards $2,000 Charitable Giving Fund Grant to ECKAN
EMPORIA, Kan. (Jan. 9, 2026) – Individuals and families facing urgent housing issues will get some relief thanks to a $2,000 grant awarded to ECKAN by Sparklight® through its Charitable Giving Fund. The grant will bolster the organization’s Rent and Utility Assistance Program, helping provide emergency assistance to residents at risk of losing housing or utilities due to unexpected circumstances.
During its recent grant cycle, Sparklight awarded more than $125,000 in grants to 25 nonprofit organizations across the cities and towns it serves. From child and family support to hunger relief to education and vital skills training, the funding is helping enhance communities and uplift lives.
“When families face sudden financial hardship, having a trusted local organization to turn to can make all the difference,” said Travis Harr, Sparklight Senior Regional Director, North Central. “Through our Charitable Giving Fund, we’re proud to support ECKAN and help keep our neighbors in the Emporia area safely housed and connected to essential services.”
For the nonprofit, the grant comes at a critical time.
“With financial pressures continuing to rise for local families, Sparklight’s support could not be more meaningful,” said Colleen Smith, ECKAN Human Service Coordinator, Lyon County. “This grant strengthens our Rent and Utility Assistance Program, keeping families safely housed, preventing homelessness and reducing the stress faced by low-income residents. Sparklight’s generosity brings comfort, stability and hope — and we are truly grateful for their partnership.”
The company’s Charitable Giving Fund focuses on initiatives that create lasting, local impact, including education and digital literacy, hunger relief and community development. Since the Fund’s inception in 2020, Sparklight has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants to more than 275 nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of those they serve.
Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant during open application periods each spring and fall. Applications for the spring 2026 cycle will be accepted April 1–30, 2026.
