CABLE ONE INVESTS $5.5 MILLION TO ENHANCE SERVICE IN PONCA CITY
May 21, 2015 – Ponca City,OK — Cable ONE is working to better serve its Ponca City customers by investing more than $1 million in 2015 in technology, equipment, and infrastructure upgrades which will provide Cable ONE customers with enhanced speed and reliability in their Internet, cable, and phone service. Over the past five years, Cable ONE has invested more than $4.5 million in Ponca City.
"We're committed to delivering the best possible experience to our customers," said Cable ONE General Manager Dick Marnell. "We're confident that this investment will ensure that our customers will receive superior service in the speed, reliability, and overall performance of our services."
The company recently completed an upgrade which included tripling the capacity of its High Speed Data equipment, adding additional circuit capacity to its fiber backbone, and the installation of a new CMTS. Other upgrades coming this year include the replacement of 160,000 feet of cable with larger capacity cable, the installation of 4 new nodes, and the splitting of 7 nodes - upgrades which will reinforce the company's infrastructure and enhance service.
"In addition to improving reliability, we're continuing to expand our services to provide our customers with the latest products and technical advancements," Marnell said. "Since we transitioned to All Digital service, we have launched 50 new channels, including a number of new HD channels. All Digital service has also improved picture quality and allowed us to deliver faster internet speeds."
Cable ONE recently increased Internet upload and download speeds on its Premier and Ultra plans as a free upgrade to new and existing Internet customers in Ponca City. Customers on the company's Premier 60Mbps plan were automatically upgraded to 75Mbps download and 5Mbps upload speeds, and customers on the Ultra 70Mbps plan were automatically upgraded to 100 Mbps download and 10Mbps upload speeds. Speeds up to 300Mbps will be available to Cable ONE residential customers by 2016. Business customers currently have access to customized, dedicated Gigabit fiber-optic service through Cable ONE Business.
