CABLE ONE INVESTS $28 MILLION TO ENHANCE GULF COAST SERVICE
July 29, 2015 – Gulf Coast,MS — Cable ONE is working to better serve its Gulf Coast customers by investing $9 million in 2015 in technology, equipment, and infrastructure upgrades which will provide Cable ONE customers with enhanced speed and reliability in their Internet, cable, and phone service. Over the past five years, Cable ONE has invested more than $28 million on the Gulf Coast.
Upgrades in Cable ONE Gulf Coast markets:
Upgrades to the technology platform in the Biloxi/Ocean Springs/D’Iberville area include tripling the capacity of the company’s high speed data equipment through the addition of a third CMTS, reducing the number of customers served per node via continued node segmentation, adding additional circuit capacity to the company’s fiber optic backbone, and upgrading signal amplification electronics – all of which will result in additional bandwidth capacity and improved reliability.

Upgrades in the Gulfport/Long Beach area include tripling the capacity of the company’s High Speed Data equipment, adding additional circuit capacity to its fiber optic backbone, the installation of two new CMTS’s, and the replacement of more than 105,000 feet of cable. Additional upgrades later this year will include 12 node splits and the installation of a new node location.
“We’ve seen a substantial increase in the number of customers choosing Cable ONE Internet for their surfing, streaming and gaming needs,” said Cable ONE Gulfport/Long Beach General Manager Jim Duck. “Customers are online now more than ever, and want a company that will provide them not only with speed, but reliability. The upgrades we’re performing will ensure that our customers will experience increased speed and reliability.”
This fall, Cable ONE in Pascagoula will more than more than triple its fiber optic backbone capacity and cable modem network infrastructure through 12 channel bonding. In early 2016 the company will install two new CMTS’s to allow for even greater internet speeds. Cable ONE in Pascagoula recently invested nearly $150,000 in training local associates for the new evolution of products in order to effectively maintain superior reliability.
“Our goal is to provide the best Internet to our customers while preparing for future enhancements to our broadband service,” said Cable ONE Pascagoula General Manager Charlie Oakes.
In addition to improving reliability, the company is committed to expanding services to provide customers with the latest products and technical advancements. Cable ONE on the Gulf Coast will transition to All Digital service beginning in October. When this conversion is completed in early spring, Cable ONE will launch more than 40 new channels (primarily HD channels). All Digital service will also improve picture quality and allow the company to deliver faster Internet speeds.
Cable ONE recently increased Internet upload and download speeds on its Premier and Ultra plans as a free upgrade to new and existing Internet customers on the Gulf Coast. Customers on the company’s Premier 60Mbps plan were automatically upgraded to 75Mbps download and 5Mbps upload speeds, and customers on the Ultra 70Mbps plan were automatically upgraded to 100 Mbps download and 10Mbps upload speeds. Speeds up to 300Mbps will be available to Cable ONE residential customers by 2016. Business customers currently have access to customized, dedicated Gigabit fiber-optic service through Cable ONE Business.
Cable ONE High Speed Internet was recently ranked by PC Magazine as one of the top 10 fastest Internet Service Providers (ISP) in the nation for the fourth year in a row. Cable ONE was also ranked by Netflix as one of the top ISPs for delivering the best Netflix experience to customers and Google rated Cable ONE’s High Speed Internet “YouTube HD Verified” for providing consistent and stable HD (720p) streaming without interruption or buffering.
