CABLE ONE CHROMEBOOK DONATION BENEFITS NORFOLK MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
September 12, 2014 – Norfolk,ND — Norfolk Middle School will soon be equipped with new Chromebooks this school year as the result of a new Cable ONE initiative designed to improve student access to technology in schools.
Cable ONE Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Steve Fox said that access to technology in schools is no longer a luxury, but a necessity, and that donating Chromebooks to schools will help bridge the digital divide in schools that lack funding.
“While many school systems are taking big steps and working to give every student and every teacher access to the technology and tools they need to learn, not all schools have access to funding to support this effort,” Fox said. “Because we believe so strongly in improving education through the use of technology, we want to do our part to support the communities where we live and work.”
Norfolk Middle School Principal Jennifer Robinson said that the Cable ONE Chromebooks are a great tool that will provide students the opportunity to quickly access information and create wonderful projects.
“Norfolk Middle School students and staff are very excited to receive the Chromebooks donated by Cable ONE,” Robinson said. “The Chromebooks will be available to all of our classes for special projects and learning opportunities. We’ll also be using them in our new afterschool program, AFTERSHOCK, a brand new grant-funded program for extended learning opportunities beyond the school day.”
Robinson said that the Chromebooks will be a valuable tool in the learning process for every student.
“Students today are digital natives,” Robinson said. “Having technology at their fingertips will increase their ability to explore and increase their everyday learning opportunities. These Chromebooks will be used for both classroom and individual projects, as well as provide opportunities for students to practice skills and improve their individual abilities.”
