ABOUT Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB)

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is a temporary FCC program to help households struggling to pay for Internet service during the pandemic. The program will provide a monthly discount of up to $50 per household (up to $75 in Tribal Lands in Oklahoma) towards broadband service for eligible households.

This program is available to both current and new Sparklight Internet customers.

* At the end of the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, all services are subject to Sparklight’s regular rates, terms and conditions.

Eligibility

A household is eligible for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program if one member of the household currently participates in one of these federal assistance programs or experienced substantial loss of income since February 29, 2020:

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Medicaid
Federal Public Housing Assistance
Tribal-specific programs: Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TTANF), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Head Start
Income at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit Programs
Approved for free or reduced lunch program through USDA Community Eligibility Provision
Experienced substantial loss of income since Feb 29, 2020 (<$99K for single; <$198K for joint)
Received Pell Grant in current award year

How do I know if I qualify for the FCC Emergency Broadband Benefit program?
Visit www.getemergencybroadband.org to apply. This website is scheduled to open by the end of April.
I am already enrolled and qualified in the federal lifeline program, do I still need to qualify at www.getemergencybroadband.org?
No. You can skip step 2 (qualifying at www.getemerencybroadband.org) and go to step 3 and log into your customer portal to enroll your Sparklight internet service in the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.
What kind of discount will I receive?
Eligible households will receive a monthly discount of up to $50/per month (or up to $75/per month on Tribal lands) on qualifying broadband plans available through Sparklight, including WiFi ONE with modem rental. If the price of service and modem does not exceed $50 (or up to $75 on Tribal lands), a customer will not receive the full $50/$75 discount.
Is Sparklight also offering the one-time discount of up to $100 towards the purchase of a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers?
Sparklight is not participating in that portion of the Emergency Broadband Benefit program.
How long will the Emergency Broadband Benefit program and credit be available?
The Emergency Broadband Benefit program is being funded by the federal government and will continue for 6 months after the federal government has declared the pandemic is over or when the special government funding has been depleted.
Will I be notified before this program ends?
Yes, you will be notified at least 30 days before the Emergency Broadband Benefit program ends.
How and when will the Emergency Broadband Benefit be applied to my bill?
Accounts that are eligible for the program and signed up through Sparklight will receive their appropriate credit of up to $50 (or up to $75/per month on Tribal lands) by the 14th of each month.
How much of a credit will I receive?
Your credit will be based on the base rate for the internet service you sign up for and any WiFi ONE modem rental charges, excluding taxes, fees, and surcharges, up to a maximum of $50 per month (or up to $75 on Tribal lands).
Are all Sparklight Internet plans eligible for a discount?
No, only identified plans are eligible. Availability of internet plans and rates vary by location. Visit www.sparklight.com/EBB for more information.
If my service costs less than $50, will I get the full $50 credit?
No, the discount applied will be limited to your actual charges for internet service, up to a maximum of $50 (or up to $75 on Tribal lands).
I was not approved for Emergency Broadband Program, can I appeal?
Please follow any recommendations available at Universal Service Administrative Company, as this organization determines program eligibility.
Can I sign up for service and the Emergency Broadband Benefit at the same time?
You must be an active internet customer and qualified through www.getemergencybroadband.org before we can enroll you for your Emergency Broadband Benefit.
If I enroll on the 4th of the current month, when will my Emergency Broadband Benefit be applied to my bill?
Your discount will be applied the month following your enrollment into the Emergency Broadband Benefit program with Sparklight. For example: If you sign up on May 3 for the Emergency Broadband Benefit program, you will see your credit on your June bill.
Can I use this credit to pay down an old bill?
No. This benefit is only applicable to current monthly service costs.
Does the discount apply to equipment rental?
The discount applies to modem rental only.
Are deposits applicable to customers who qualify for the program?
Yes.
