Sparklight Donates $5,000 to Support Dent County Toy Drive

December 19, 2024

SALEM, MO. (December 18, 2024) – Sparklight®, Salem’s hometown internet provider, has donated $5,000 to the Dent County Toy Drive in the wake of the Dec. 17 fire that not only decimated the Scenic Rivers Industries (SRI)/Dent County Sheltered Workshop building and vehicles, but also the toys and gifts collected meant to brighten the holidays for 130 families in need. The donation will help the Dent County Toy Drive replace the lost toys so the organization can still make deliveries by Christmas and fulfill the holiday wishes of these families.

“Our associates live and work in Salem, and we are proud to support organizations like SRI/Dent County Sheltered Workshop and the Dent County Toy Drive that do so much to enhance our community,” said Sam McGill, Sparklight Director, Regional Operations North Central. “Formerly Fidelity Communications, Sparklight has served this community for more than 25 years. We hope that this donation will ensure holiday cheer to the many families supported by this wonderful organization.”

“Dent County Toy Drive is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from Sparklight and other dedicated partners in our community,” said Becki Heathman, Toy Drive Committee Member. “We know that many families are suffering. Sparklight’s support will enable us to fulfill the Christmas wishes of children in need in Salem even while we are rebuilding. We are appreciative of the massive outreach and know that – through this widespread support – we will emerge even stronger.”

Sparklight’s donation is an extension of the company’s focus on and contribution to the livelihood of the communities it serves. In Phelps and Dent counties, Sparklight has sponsored events, made donations to local school districts and volunteered at food pantries. Sparklight also awards $250,000 annually to nonprofits across its 24-state footprint through its Charitable Giving Fund, including Hope Alliance of Missouri and The Community Partnership in nearby Rolla.

“The Yavapai County Broadband Initiative is pleased to be in partnership with Sparklight for a public/private partnership, using $5 million is American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to provide broadband services to the Verde Villages area along both sides of SR 260,” said Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter. “This will provide high quality broadband service that will benefit educational opportunities, economic development, health care access and increased property values, to mention just a few.”

Sparklight has extensive experience providing superior internet services across Arizona and it’s 24-state footprint. Beyond delivering innovative products and competitive pricing, the company takes pride in its dedication to community enrichment through educational programs, corporate giving and contributions of time and resources.
