Sparklight and Sleep in Heavenly Peace Build Beds for Treasure Valley Kids

BOISE, Idaho (Sept. 3, 2025) – Over three dozen local children will soon sleep more soundly thanks to a collaborative effort between Sparklight® and the Boise chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP). During a volunteer event held Aug. 28 at SHP’s Meridian facility, 26 Sparklight associates worked alongside SHP representatives to build beds for children who previously didn’t have one of their own.

During the three-hour initiative, the team fabricated, stained and branded components for 38 beds that will go to families in need identified by SHP through incoming applications and outreach to social-service organizations. 

While SHP chapter bed-build events typically draw local volunteers, the Aug. 28 initiative included Sparklight associates from across the company’s 24-state service territory. This included a group that had gathered in Boise for a leadership program but dedicated part of their time to volunteering, underscoring Sparklight’s companywide commitment to making a positive impact on all of its communities.

The effort builds on Sparklight’s ongoing support for SHP, having awarded the nonprofit a Charitable Giving Fund grant earlier this year.

“At Sparklight, we place a deep emphasis on community service and being a good neighbor in every community we serve,” said Katie Flores, Sparklight Regional Marketing Director, Northwest. “What made this event so special was that our associates — many from outside of Boise — embraced this cause as their own. We were honored to roll up our sleeves together to make a tangible difference for Treasure Valley families.”

This effort went far beyond creating beds — it aimed to create dignity, comfort and security for kids who need it most.”

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with more than 350 chapters across North America dedicated to building and delivering beds to children in need. With an estimated 2‒3% of children in the U.S. sleeping on floors, couches or shared beds, SHP works to ensure all children have a bed — a basic need supporting their physical, emotional and mental development.
