Sparklight Awards $7,500 Charitable Giving Fund Grant to The Outside Foundation
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Aug. 6, 2025) – Sparklight® is helping bring science to life for local students with a $7,500 grant to The Outside Foundation through its Charitable Giving Fund. The funding will support the expansion of the Foundation’s “Kids in Kayaks” program during the 2025–2026 school year, giving approximately 1,300 Beaufort County seventh graders the chance to explore their local environment through guided kayak tours and hands-on dockside science activities.
This spring, Sparklight awarded more than $125,000 in grants to 27 nonprofit organizations across the cities and towns it serves. From children’s advocacy programs and mental health services to food banks and emergency response providers, the funding will help advance essential services that uplift lives and strengthen communities.
“Sparklight is proud to support The Outside Foundation and its ‘Kids in Kayaks’ program, which gives local students a chance to connect with the natural beauty of Hilton Head in a truly hands-on way,” said Jane Shanley, Sparklight Senior Regional Director, Southeast. “By helping young people experience science and the environment outside the classroom, this program is inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards, and we’re thrilled to play a part in that.”
“We sincerely thank Sparklight for supporting our annual ‘Kids in Kayaks’ program,” said Mary Heitman, Director of Development at The Outside Foundation. “Their partnership genuinely helps us reach more young people with meaningful outdoor experiences that ignite a love for nature, encourage environmental care and bring our community closer together. Together, we’re committed to getting kids outside and preserving the beautiful places that make our region unique.”
The company’s Charitable Giving Fund focuses on initiatives that create lasting, local impact, including education and digital literacy, hunger relief and community development. Since the Fund’s inception in 2020, Sparklight has awarded more than $1 million in grants to more than 250 nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of those they serve.
Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant during open application periods each spring and fall. Applications for the fall 2025 cycle will be accepted October 1–31, 2025.
