At Sparklight, giving back is a big part of who we are. Through our Charitable Giving Fund, we support nonprofits and community organizations working to make life better for local families. Together, we can strengthen the places we live and serve.
Giving back to move communities forward
Sparklight prioritizes partnerships that create meaningful, lasting impact in our communities. While we welcome a variety of requests, we focus on three core areas:
Education & digital literacy: Helping learners of all ages gain the skills they need to succeed in a digital world.
Food insecurity: Supporting local organizations that help families put meals on the table.
Community development: Backing initiatives that strengthen our neighborhoods and support economic growth.
What kind of support we offer
We’re proud to support bold ideas that help organizations grow and make a bigger impact. That includes things like:
- Special projects that expand your programs or build capacity.
- Capital campaigns that improve your space or upgrade your infrastructure.
Please note: We typically don't fund basic operating costs or recurring annual programs.
Is your organization a good fit for the Charitable Giving Fund?
If you’re interested in receiving support through our Charitable Giving Fund, please make sure your organization meets the following requirements:
501(c)(3) status
Must be a tax-exempt nonprofit organization in good standing.
170(c)(1) status
Must be a governmental unit as defined in Internal Revenue Code Section 170(c)(1) and requesting a grant for exclusively public purposes.
Applicant location requirements
Organizations must be located in the United States and should provide services in an area where Cable One or one of its family of brands does business.
A few things to keep in mind:
- We’re honored by the many incredible organizations doing important work in our communities. While we’d love to support every cause, our resources are limited, and we want to be fair and thoughtful with our giving.
- To make room for as many groups as possible, we generally provide just one award per organization in a 12-month period. For example, if you receive a grant in April, we’ll consider your next request the following April.
- We focus our support on specific projects and initiatives. Requests for ongoing operating expenses (like salaries or administrative overhead) and general support for annual programs are typically not granted. We also do not offer loans.
- We’re unable to fund:
- Scholarships for individuals or nonprofit scholarship funds
- Seed money or sole-source funding for organizations
- Endowment funds
- Conferences, seminars, or fundraising events
- Political campaigns, causes, or lobbying efforts
- Religious organizations for general operations or mission-based programs (we do consider project-based requests that serve the broader community)
- Any organization or program that discriminates on the basis of race, gender, identity, religion, ability, or any other protected category
How to apply for Sparklight’s Charitable Giving Fund
We’re excited to hear about the great work your organization is doing! To be considered for support, all requests must be submitted through our online application portal.
We may reach out for more details, a quick interview, or even a site visit; it’s all part of making sure we understand how best to support your mission.
Important dates:
We accept applications twice a year—in April and October.
- Deadlines: April 30 and October 31 (by midnight ET)
- Award notifications: End of May and November, depending on when you applied
