CABLE ONE, CYMPO DISTRACTED DRIVING CAMPAIGN RENEWED FOR SECOND YEAR
April 25, 2018 – Prescott,AZ — April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and Cable ONE, along with the Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO), are recognizing the month by renewing for the second year their partnership in the Yavapai County "Don't Drive Distracted" Campaign.
The partnership between Cable ONE, CYMPO and eight local law enforcement agencies (Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, Prescott Police, Prescott Valley Police, Chino Valley Police, Yavapai College Campus Police, Cottonwood Police, Camp Verde Marshall's Office, the Department of Public Safety), and the Arizona Department of Transportation is designed to prevent distracted driving accidents, which have been on the rise for the past several years. According to CYMPO, distraction contributes to 16% of all fatal crashes and can be attributed to nine traffic fatalities every day.
The goal of the public service campaign is to reduce fatalities and serious liabilities on all public roads in Yavapai County that happen as a result of distracted driving. Over the past three years, the campaign has tackled this issue via television and online public service announcements, social media, display advertising, and most recently, outreach to Prescott High School students.
Cable ONE Account Executive Becky Banks has worked with CYMPO for the past several years in creating the aggressive public service campaign, and producing a series of television and online public service announcements on the dangers of distracted driving.
